Colombia Gesha - Leonardo Henao
As a specialty coffee roaster, it is our pleasure to present to you our first Gesha varietal offering by Leonardo Henao.
From Leonardo Henao's "El Jardín" in Santa Barbara comes this distinguished Gesha, cultivated at the farm's apex—2030 meters above sea level. Leo's journey reflects both resilience and refinement: a fermentation specialist and former Cup of Excellence winner, he established this 67-hectare variety garden as a successor to Los Palomos, channeling his expertise into experimental practices and meticulous post-harvest work. El Jardín's diverse cultivar collection—Chiroso, SL-28, Colombia, and Gesha among them—represents Leo's commitment to quality and innovation. This Gesha lot, sourced from the farm's highest elevation, embodies the technical mastery and thoughtful stewardship that define his approach to coffee farming.
Henao's Colombia Geisha showcases the variety's signature jasmine character with remarkable clarity. This lot reveals delicate floral aromatics—star jasmine and honeysuckle—paired with honeyed sweetness and brisk, tea-like notes that create an elegant, evolving cup. With a preferred roast level in the lighter tones (City level) to preserve the acidity and aromatic complexity; lighter roasts sacrifice body but allow the perfumed profile to shine. Expect fragrant steam with cane sugar and dried florals, followed by flavors reminiscent of Earl Grey and jasmine pearl tea, with a subtle citrus brightness. The refined sweetness and tannic mouthfeel build gracefully through the finish, rewarding careful brewing methods like pour-over.
We recommend a light roast, and letting it rest for 13 days past the roast date, otherwise plan for an extended bloom time to allow for the CO2 to release for optimum results.
These batches come by pre-order in 120g per container, roasted to perfection based on the brewer's preferred roast level. Only 18 tins available, order today!
