Butterbeans Coffee Roasters
Butterbeans Coffee Roasters exists for one reason:
to show what coffee can taste like when it’s treated with care.
Not overly bitter. Not roasted into sameness.
Just balanced, expressive, and enjoyable—exactly as it should be.
Meet the Roaster
My name is Michael, and I roast every batch of coffee at Butterbeans.
I work with high-quality coffees from small producers and approach each one individually—adjusting the roast to highlight what makes that coffee unique, rather than forcing it into a fixed profile.
Some coffees lean chocolatey and familiar.
Others are brighter, more floral, or a little unexpected.
Each is intentional in their own way.
A Different Approach to Coffee
Most coffee is designed for uniformity.
A single flavor, repeated over and over.
Butterbeans takes a different approach.
Coffee is seasonal, and to reflect that we rotate our selection with the changing of the seasons. Profiles evolve.
The goal isn’t sameness—it’s to bring out the best in each coffee.
What stays consistent is the standard:
every roast is crafted to be balanced, approachable, and worth drinking on its own.
Making Specialty Coffee More Approachable
Specialty coffee can feel complicated. It doesn’t have to be.
At its core, it’s simple:
try something new, find what you enjoy, and drink better coffee.
Whether you’re just getting into coffee or already know what you like, the goal is the same—help you find something you’ll genuinely look forward to drinking.
If you visit in person, you’ll be able to taste before you buy and get guidance without pressure.
Why “Butterbeans”?
Butterbeans is named after our dog, Althea "Butterbeans" Nguyen.
She is a core part of the reason as to why I do all that we do, and is featured on every bag.
The name reflects what I want this to be:
something thoughtful and high-quality—but still approachable, welcoming, and human.
